Thought I’d offer up a little change of pace. I penned this story during my time spent in Almanack exile. Since my return, I’ve had intentions of sharing it at some point. I must admit, I submitted this to Melisa with some trepidation. I was not sure how it would be received, but the response has been amazing! Caught me completely off guard. Thank you, jj & Mark, and to all my friends here at the Almanack. For any who might have interest & care to join me, I plan to be at The Adirondack Center for Writing (15 Broadway in Saranac Lake) on Wednesday, September 20th, at 7pm for another open mic reading at their bi-monthly “Barkreaders” event. It’s a great event, first a featured author reads a few select passages from their latest book, followed by an open mic, where area writers can share up to five minutes of their work. Lasts about an hour. I plan to read a pair of poems at the open mic: “Serenade of the Loon”, & “Where Sentinels Soar”. Another “Speaking in Tongues” survivor’s celebration moment for me personally. And, as always-drinks at Bitters & Bones afterwards- 1st round’s on me!
Damn, wish I were closer.
